about

Written in 2009 on my friend's papasan chair where I was crashing. You know when you've been friends with someone for awhile, and then have sex with that friend, and the first time you've hung out since then you're both being kind of mean to each other, and you're afraid they're being mean to you because they don't really like you, but you know you're being mean to them because you don't want them to know how much you like them? That's what this song is about, and also, don't do that, use your words.

lyrics

I'm testing you
To find out why you do
The things that you do
The ones I don't understand
It's hard being around you
Watching you think
What do you think about?
What do you think about?
When I
Start to believe
That I understand
Why you behave
In ways that punish me
And punish me beautifully
Have I uncovered
The rule of the law of the way that you are

The rule of the law
The rule of the law
The rule of the law
Of the way that you are
